Great wines begin with
great vineyards.

Melting glaciers gave us the Great Lakes, Niagara Escarpment and cool clay soil; which has in turn created the Unesco designated World Biosphere reserve, growing vines with unmatched character for our winemakers to work on.

Stonebridge builds on diversity of clones, rootstock and microclimate, adding elegant complexity and structure to our Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernets.

Our team works with practices that build on soil health and low yields, which allows for maximum expression of terroir in the complex and balanced fruit from our vineyard. In central Niagara-on-the-Lake and the hottest and windiest part of Four Mile Creek appelation, 40 acres of this estate is dedicated to produce some of the best Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet grapes.

Cool nights extend the hang time and preserve the acidity of the fruit, building complexity in our wines.

Our vines grow on the best lands history and geography has preserved for us.

Stonebridge estate vineyard is located in the Four Mile Creek subappelation of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Growing on the blend of Lake Iroguois sediments and glaciolucstine clay. The Queenston bedrock shale that sits below consists of a sequence of ancient rock beds or strate, originating from over 500 million years ago as marine sediments in a warm shallow inland sea.

The estate was farmed as plum orchard for decades, and partially planted with Chardonnay grapes . Faik Turkmen, fell in love with the featureless-ness of land which at the same time transpired a sense of somewhereness like no other place, He made the decision with his sons to make it home. His teenage sons, Alp and Selim, encouraged him in their own unique ways to get on to the work. A small plot had Chardonnay already planted and the rest was cleared and prepared in 2016. Already at 16.4 acres planted with vines, small batches of wines produced expressed remarkably complex aromas, flavour and structure while demonstrating a character of it’s own.

A great wine transfers a sense of place when first tasted. Sense of place is something you preserve not build; our vineyard team grows our grapes by preserving their relationship with the soil, our winemaking team preserves the flavours that are entrusted to them. We try to preserve our land and deliver a piece of Niagara, along with a sense of our vineyard to you.
